Rara Magic

Raramagi is a mobile action RPG game where players can battle against monsters with cute school girls. By proceeding further into the story, players can develop stronger bonds with the girls. The game's animation is produced by A-1 pictures with Live2D technology and all girls are voiced over by famous CVs. Enjoy your school life with lively cute girls together! The main storyline is fully voiced, with Live2D animation and anime-style stills of the heroines. The main story is divided into one act per heroine, and by the end of the service, the 14th act had been distributed. The heroines can be interacted with on the home screen, and interaction elements such as the "Outing" function, which allows users to take pictures with the heroines using an AR camera, and to increase their "Kizuna Lv" by giving them gifts. The project was announced at the Nico Nico Ultra Conference 2015 on April 25, 2015. It then underwent a closed beta test conducted from October 20 to October 26, 2016 and was released as an iOS/Android game app on January 25, 2017. The pre-registration that began on December 22, 2016, attracted over 150,000 people, and after distribution, the game received 1 million downloads on March 9, 2017, and one year later, on March 9, 2018, it surpassed 2 million downloads. The end of the service was announced on April 3, 2020, and the service was terminated on June 3 of the same year.

Estimates, not counts — nobody publishes real player numbers for mobile games, so these are modelled from public signals. How we work them out

Player estimates

Nobody publishes how many people play Rara Magic, so these figures are modelled from the public counts on Reddit. Each count stands in a roughly known ratio to a population — one Play rating per ~45 players, one Steam review per ~35 owners — and the estimates below combine those readings, weighted by how much each source can be trusted to speak for the whole game. Read the range as the answer and the headline as its middle.

Range 222.6K

No source reports a live count for this game, so this is a share of the total player base — a genre assumption rather than an observation, which is why the range is wide.

Storyline

The main character, Tuner, who aspires to be a tuner, was captivated by the "magic sound" at a regular concert of the instrumental music club of Higashikanade Academy, and entered Higashikanade Academy with the desire to support the instrumental music club. However, according to the head of the club, Momoka Kusanagi, the current instrumental music club is in danger of being discontinued, as all the members have turned their minds away from music. The next day, the tuner visits the instrumental music club room and falls in love with the performance of Nanami Yuki, a girl who plays the flute alone, but Nanami interrupts her performance and leaves the club room as if to escape. Guided by a mysterious voice, Tuner enters the music preparation room, where he meets Honya, a cat who calls herself the " spirit of music," and obtains the Nothung, a sacred instrument with the power to break the "curse" that is keeping the instrumental music club members' minds away from music. In order to recover the "magic sound," Tuner sets off on an adventure with Honya to tune the girls' hearts.

How are the Rara Magic player estimates worked out?

Nobody publishes player counts for mobile games, so we infer them. Each public count we can read is converted into a population using a documented ratio — roughly one Google Play rating per 45 people who played, one Steam review per 35 owners, one Discord member per 40 players — and the live counts (Steam concurrents, members online, Twitch viewers) are converted the same way into a daily figure. Those separate estimates are then averaged in proportion to how much each source can be trusted, which is why sources that disagree widen the published range instead of cancelling out. This page is built on 1 readings taken since August 9, 2026.
