Player estimates

Nobody publishes how many people play The Palace on the Hill, so these figures are modelled from the public counts on Google Play, App Store, Steam, Twitch. Each count stands in a roughly known ratio to a population — one Play rating per ~45 players, one Steam review per ~35 owners — and the estimates below combine those readings, weighted by how much each source can be trusted to speak for the whole game. Read the range as the answer and the headline as its middle.

Storyline

The story is about a teenage boy, Vir, set in a hillside village in India. Vir is an aspiring artist and creates art by exploring the ruins of an ancient kingdom in his village. In his explorations, he discovers various things and stories told by the villagers which become references for his artworks. Vir's father, a farmer, is struggling with debt due to failed crops and loses the savings meant for his son's college. During the course of his summer vacation, Vir gets an exciting opportunity to showcase his artworks in a gallery which will earn him a lot of money. To fulfil this quest Vir has to create a series of paintings depicting the royal history of their village. Every player of this game will step into Vir's shoes and explore their village and its historical ruins, find puzzling references for paintings and discover lost legends from various people while also making new friends and doing fun activities.

Frequently asked questions

How many people play The Palace on the Hill?

We estimate that about 9,100 people have played The Palace on the Hill — plausibly between 4.5K and 18K. Around 450 of them play on a given day, in a range of 45 and 2.7K. Both figures are modelled from public counts on Google Play, App Store, Steam and Twitch rather than published by the developer, so read them as a scale rather than as a headcount.

Is The Palace on the Hill still active?

Yes. The Palace on the Hill is holding steady — it measured within a percent of where it was a week ago. We recheck every source daily, and the charts on this page show each platform's readings over time.

How are the The Palace on the Hill player estimates worked out?

Nobody publishes player counts for mobile games, so we infer them. Each public count we can read is converted into a population using a documented ratio — roughly one Google Play rating per 45 people who played, one Steam review per 35 owners, one Discord member per 40 players — and the live counts (Steam concurrents, members online, Twitch viewers) are converted the same way into a daily figure. Those separate estimates are then averaged in proportion to how much each source can be trusted, which is why sources that disagree widen the published range instead of cancelling out. This page is built on 2 readings taken since August 8, 2026.

The Palace on the Hill was released on October 20, 2022 for Android and iOS.
